Most of the Delhiites have no civic sense

Delhi is mixed metropolitan. By mixed I mean so many different kind of people stay here. People from all over India belonging to different stately cultures has made Delhi their home. Different kinds of people make Delhi very colorful culturally but at the same time make Delhi dirty. Most of the Delhi crowd has no civic sense. Even well dressed people who look like they come from financially strong background, has education, are socially aware too has no civic sense. MCD has installed so many dustbins all over Delhi but most people just love throwing garbage on the road. These scumbags think what the MCD staff for, if they themselves keep the city clean, the MCD staff would have nothing to do. Delhi people would dress in a manner, they come in par with their western countries counterpart but in manners they would always be cheap third worlds. It is truly said ‘never judge a book by its cover’. These same people with no civic sense when goes to some other country, they would follow all civic rules and will not loiter around, such is their hypocrisy. If you go to any public toilets at malls, theatres, airports, railways stations etc, one can get a live display of the crude civic manner of the people. Even a Prada, Dior, Chanel, Armani wearing crowd does not know that a used tissue paper is meant to be dropped in the dustbin and not on the toilet floor. These people live in swanky homes and just know how to keep their own homes clean. That is why is always say never judge a person by how he/she dresses.

I was hanging out in front of the Vishwavidyala Metro Station, saw this bunch of North Campus DU girls, all very fashionably dressed, one girl look particularly pretty with long hair and looked like the beauty queen of the group. They had sandwiches from a nearby food stall. After eating the sandwiches all the girls dropped the wrapping and the tissue paper in the nearby dustbin except this particular beauty queen. This girl dropped it right where she was standing, then these girls stated getting their pictures clicked, the beauty queen’s poses were the best! All this girl has is outer beauty and no manners and manners would what last and not her made up beauty! Check out the pictures above. Girls with the red arrow over the head is the girl i am talking about!

Fallen series by Lauren Kate sucks!

I love reading novels. One of my favorite genres is Fantasy. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowling is a genius in my eyes. I also adore the Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolken. I liked the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer very much too. Since then I keep searching for Fantasy genre series books to read. I read the first 3 books of the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, did not like that much. I read the three books in the Inheritance Cycle series by Christopher Paolini, liked them a lot and now waiting for the final fourth installment to be out in Novemeber’11.

Just a few days back I had nothing from the fantasy genre to read so I started re-reading the Harry Potter books(which I do often when I have nothing interesting to read) and the Harry Potter books always interest me. Seeing my boring condition a friend of mine who is also an avid novel reader suggested the Fallen series by Lauren Kate. Three books of the Fallen series are out till now: Fallen, Torment, Passion and the fourth book is yet to hit the stores. I have finished reading Fallen and Torment and here is my verdict:

  • The lead female character by the name Lucinda Price is totally irritating because of her irritatingly over girly antics though the writer has tried to portray her as a strong person.
  • The books leave much to anticipate and have too many loose ends, leaves the reader with so many questions.
  • Ending of each of the two books is very weak.
  • The series seems like an almost inspiration from the Twilight series with its love story between a mythical boy and a human girl.
  • The Fallen book has a very funny review at its back “Twilight fans would love it”, as if the writer Lauren Kate wrote these books based on the fact that fans of the Twilight series would be missing the twilight books and in the meanwhile would read any crappy rip off they laid their hands on.
  • Writing style of the writer is also very irritating, seems she loves telling stories in circles. She loves stretching a crappy story too far and is hell bend on making a four books series

Thank God I have not bought these books and wasted my money on them but I feel bad for my dear friend from whom I borrowed them who actually bought them. She has bought the third book Passion too and has offered me to read it, sweet and poor of her. So People please do not bother reading this Fallen series and I hope some really crappy movies are not churned out based on this series.

Men can not help entering the delhi metro coach reserved for women

Just recently I happen to travel by the Women only reserved coach in Delhi Metro.

This is really a very good initiative by the DMRC. Women can now travel with relief without getting misbehaved to by men, now women travelers can get seats reserved for them without have to argue with men for it. The first coach after the engine is a ladies only coach. Constant announcements are being made requesting the men not to travel by the women’s coach. But as typical Delhi men are (I am not blaming all Delhi men though!), they can not help entering the women’s coach. So many ladies at one place seem irresistible to the men! Though some men unknowingly enter the coach and leave it as soon as they realize their mistake but some has to be told to leave, if they are stubborn they do not. They look at the females as if never in their lives saw one! College guys even play the dare game of travelling by the women’s coach as long as nobody notices. These days all the girls who are travel alone (not accompanied by any males) prefer to travel by this women only coach and this fact seem to be a big disappointment for the guys as their daily dose of eye tonic seem to have been snatched from them! But men would not back out in their pursuit of getting to stare at the beautiful ladies in the ladies coach so what has happened is that the general coach just after the ladies coach always remains crowded even if the rest of the train is empty! Men almost shove and push each other to stand at the joint passage of the ladies coach and the next coach so that they can have an ample view of whole coach full of ladies! :P

Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh

We went to Dalhousie in mid July. Dalhousie is a small hill station situated in Himachal Pradesh, India. We drove from Chandigarh to Dalhousie, it took 10 hours straight. On the way we stopped at the roadside eateries for food and refreshment. The road was awesome…smooth! Dalhousie used to be a very popular summer holiday place for the British officers. Dalhousie has been named after Lord Dalhousie, was the governor-general of India. We stayed at the Dalhousie Heights Hotel. In the mornings the sun comes out but the weather changes after mid day…as fog closes in. Summers are pleasantly cool in Dalhousie and in winters it snows there. From our hotel the bus stop and the Subhash Chowk was within walking distance. We walked till subhash chowk which is situated at a height during the mornings and evenings. At Shubhash Chowks, there r small café style eateries and tea stall. Shubhash Chowk gets it name from the Statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue situated there; he visited Dalhousie while in his quest of bringing freedom to India. Subhash Chowk has wine shops and departmental stores too. We went to this really beautiful spot call the Mini Swiss. This is a vast lush green ground surrounded by fir trees on all sides, cows, sheep and horse graze on the grass, there is a small water body in the middle. The overall look is very Swiss so the name ‘Mini Swiss’. We did zorbing there….total fun…got dizzy! What I liked most about Mini Swiss was that it is a very quiet place, totally serene, so peaceful that I could clearly hear each and every thought going on in my head which is never possible in a busy metro city. From mid July, the off season starts at Dalhousie because of monsoon, so there are fewer crowds, but we always like it that way. Dalhousie looks like some English countryside, beautiful sunsets, winding roads, greenery, street side coffee, we loved it all.

Idea robbing customers

I have recently been robbed of Rs.110 for no apparent reason by Idea Cellular service. I use the GPRS on my phone regularly for various internet usages. For that I had Idea’s Rs.20 per Internet pack activated. As per this Internet pack once activated by sending a sms ‘Gprs20’ to 52918, this pack gets activated within the next 8 hours. I had the same. 3 days back on 12th June 2011, I had a balance of Rs.130, at set time like everyday Rs.20 got deducted from my balance, I was using the net, but suddenly the net got disconnected to be not connected despite numerous tries. I thought there is some technical glitch in my comp. Then when I check my balance, it showed that I am left with Rs.1.46. GPRS net does not run with a balance below Rs.8. Without any applied Internet pack the Idea Gprs charges are 2p/kb. I was completely clueless how come my balance has come down to this as I had not made any calls or send any smses since I last checked my balance which then showed Rs.110.

I called up Idea Care, the time was 2.a.m., when I told my story the call center executive said “what access point do you use?” I replied “let me check”, after checking I told him “Access point 1”, He said “you should set it on Idea Internet”, I replied “but what the hell has it got to do with my balance getting deducted?”, the executive got confused, he replied “can u call us back in the morning after 7a.m.”, agreed and hung up.

Next morning at 10a.m. I call up Idea Customer Care again. This time when I repeated my problem, this dumb reply  came back from the executive “everyday at the set time when Rs.20 gets deducted as per the pack, there is a re-activation time of 4 hours during which if you use net, charges would be deducted as per without any Internet pack”, I am like WTF “ I have been using this 20 pack internet for the past 2 yrs, this stupid rule was never there, I have even used the net for a full 24 hrs sometime but never my balance was deducted out of track, why suddenly this time, you never informed me about this rule??”

The cell center executive replied “this rule has always been there”, I said “this is a mistake on your part, you should refund my money”, on which the executive blandly refused and hung up.

This is anarchy on part of Idea Cellular Services, these greedy sharks are robbing customers like this, even people like me who understand the technicalities of how these system works gets conned by these telecom companies whose 95% services have hidden conditions which they never reveal to their gullible customers or they cook up new conditions when come the firing line of their querying customers.

Using a cell phone which has become an absolute necessity and need and also addiction to many can cost you a bomb if you are not careful!
